Be Acceptable!

Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

As a child of the Lord one of the most difficult tasks that you will face is to keep your tongue (your words) and your thoughts under control. It is difficult because you constantly have to guard against saying that which will not please the Lord and the devil constantly bombards your mind with wicked thoughts.

However, this verse gives you great encouragement. In this ongoing battle, your Redeemer, Jesus Christ, is the One who gives you the strength that you need to be victorious. Will it always be easy? NO! But you can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth you!

An Expression of Mercy

“And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.” (II Samuel 12:1)

David had sinned and the Lord sent Nathan to David to confront him. What an expression of mercy. The Lord could have cast David aside and left him in his sin. However, in His mercy He sent His messenger to reveal to David that his sin was known and that the Lord desired to restore David into fellowship with Him.

Praise the Lord for the messengers that the Lord sends to us to declare His Word – even sometimes when we may not want to hear.

Change of Focus Required

“And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.
And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.” (II Chronicles 17:8 – 9)

As king of Judah, Jehoshaphat instituted many changes. Among these was the sending of the religious leaders to the cities to teach the Word of the Lord. He knew that the way to lead those he was responsible for was to point them to the unfailing Word of God.

The only way to effective change in the life of any people is to be focused on the Lord. You will not have the government send preachers and teachers to give you the Word of the Lord. However, the Lord Himself has given you the complete Word of the Lord, the Bible. If that is read daily along with regular attendance and participation in your local church, your spiritual life will be strengthened and your service for the Lord will increased.

Ignorance is No Excuse!

I Thessalonians 4:4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

“Ignorance is no excuse!”  Have you ever heard that before?  The Lord wanted to make sure that you know this truth.  Every one or all Christians should know how to possess or acquire for himself his vessel (his body) to live a life of holiness appropriate for the price of which it was paid.  Every Christian is bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ – a very high price.  Every Christian is to live worthy of that price.

But where does it say that this is the will of the Lord that I should know this?  Look at the preceding verse For this is the will of God … Remember ignorance is no excuse.

We Shall Be Changed

Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. (Philippians 3:21)

This is what Jesus Christ will do one day for the Christian. This body of flesh that is subject to sin and suffers from pain, illness and viruses will be changed to be like that of our Savior. “What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see.”

Walk in the Spirit

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16)

Christian you are in a war. Your flesh has an ongoing desire to sin. You have the key to victory – walk in the Spirit. Easy Right? Well no. But what is expressed here is what each Christian needs to focus on all the time. Allow the Holy Spirit of the Lord to lead you at all times. His dwelling place is you. He is the Author of the Word of God.

Allow Him that is in you to guide you in the Bible and it will give you the strength for the war you are in.

This Treasure

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. (II Corinthians 4:7 )

Paul proclaims that we have this treasure, in context speaking of the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ, in our earthen vessels, our human bodies.  The amazing thought that the Lord would love you so much that He would provide a way of salvation for you and that He would allow you, in your body, to be a shining representative of that saving Gospel message.

How are you representing that message?

Being Wise in the Ways of the Lord

Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. (I Corinthians 3:18)

To the child of the Lord:
If you take a stand on the truths of the Word of God those of the world will call you a fool. Do not allow that to alarm you. It is best to be a fool to the world but wise in the ways of the Lord.

Let Your Hands Be Strong

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets, which were in the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built. (Zechariah 8:9 )

How appropriate this message is for today.  In this time of worldwide uncertainty, the Christians need to strengthen themselves in the Lord.  Then take that which the Lord has given you and share with those who the Lord brings across your path.
